Surrounded by hills and valleys of dense forests, Kundala is a picturesque place known for the Kundala Dam or Sethuparvati Dam and Kundala Lake. In Kundala, cherry blossoms appear twice in a year. The famous Neela Kurunji flowers which bloom once in twelve years bloom in the hills and valleys around Kundala Lake. The artificial dam is a major attraction here and is Asia’s first Arch dam. The dam is surrounded by mountains draped in greenery and tea garden like any other place in Munnar. Tourists often go to the top of Kundala Dam to have a panoramic view of the catchment area of the Dam. Major attractions around the dam are Kundala Tea Plantations and the serene Kundala Lake adjoining it. The lake is surrounded by eucalyptus and pine trees and Aruvikkad Waterfall. Also the boating experience at the lake is wonderful. One can enjoy the shikara boat ride and the green Munnar with the view of scenic tea gardens and surrounding hills.
