The Ridge road is a large open space located in the heart of Shimla presenting excellent views of the mountain ranges.
Running alongside the Mall Road which is the famous shopping center of Shimla and a place which cannot be left untouched by any visitor, The Ridge connects most major places like Scandal Point, Lakkar Bazaar (wooden crafts market), Snowdon, Jakhoo hill, etc.
Also the area offers a decent mix of budget and value for money hotels. Famous for the various government functions and fairs that are held here, The Ridge holds the famous Summer Festival during the months of April or May. The most famous landmark of the Ridge is the Christ Church from 1844, a beautiful building constructed in Neo-Gothic style of architecture.
Being the major landmark and the most easily recognized face of the hill station, most news papers print photos of the ridge submerged in clumps of fresh snow when winter sets in and the town receives its first major snowfall of the year.
