Wat Traimit houses the world's biggest enormous gold situated Buddha measuring about five meters in stature and measuring five and a half tons. Wat Tramit Is an impressive place that is located within easy reach from Bangkok’s Chinatown. Wat Traimit is popular because it houses the world’s largest giant golden Buddha statue, 10 feet high and weighing 5 ½tons and is made of 18 karat pure gold estimated to be worth $250 million. The statue is said to have been built during the Sukhothai period of the 13th to 14th century’s as it is styled the same as other pieces from around this time, which takes its influences from India. The statue may have also resided at some time in Thailand’s ancient capital Ayutthaya. Although the statues exact history is unknown, it is said to have been moved in 1801, when King Rama 1 ordered all statues depicting Lord Buddha to be moved to Bangkok. The image is said to be very moving and well worth a visit.
